What Do You See

When I look into the mirror

Searching for that something that I lack

A pair of strangers eyes appear

Greedily looking back

Desire and expectation flood the image that I see

Demanding that I surrender every single part of me

I struggle without cease to be the one left in control

But the reflection is persistent

Holding me in a chokehold

What if I become the one inside who isn’t

The reflection and reflector flipped

I mean, who would be the wiser

It’s done everything I ever did

My ultimate advisor

Someone’s coming, time to decide

The being or the image

The outside or hidden inside

This optically odd package

Tell me, can you tell?
