To the tide, to the wind, to the hands that might find me—
I place this letter inside a bottle, a wish folded in ink.
It is the twenty-fifth of February, twenty twenty-five,
and I turn 19, the years aligning like stars,
arranging themselves into something that matters.
I like to think this means something.
I like to think I do too.
*
I write because words are the only wings I trust to carry me forward.
I write because this is how I stay, even when time is unkind.
Every poem, every thought, every desperate scratch of ink—
these are the footprints I leave on the shore,
hoping they will not wash away.
*
I have written so many times,
each sentence another heartbeat cast adrift,
each poem a flicker of me, asking to last,
asking to mean something beyond this moment.
*
And so I wish: for memory’s grace,
for my words to be held in a heart, in a place.
For someone to read them and see me inside,
to know that I lived,
I laughed,
I cried,
And I tried,
to see me as I was—
alive, reaching, unafraid to hope,
despite my sad poems leeching.
It’s all part of the flow.
*
If you find this, if my words have drifted to your shore,
know that I was here, and I longed for much more.
Not just to be known, not simply to stay,
but to press my heart into paper, fold it into time,
and send it on its way.
*
To express my love.
To find my place.
To find soulmates in friends who will wholeheartedly make space—
in their hearts, in the moments we reach.
And for me to love,
accept, and cherish the parts of me….
I cast aside and hide.
*
So let this be carried where currents may lead,
A note on the water, a thought turned to seed.
A wish for remembrance, for movement, for flight,
For the waves to still whisper my name in the stillness of the night.
*
Authors note:
Well, it’s not quite my birthday yet (it’s tomorrow), but I’m posting this a bit early because I’ve got a lot of schoolwork as well as an exam tomorrow.
I haven’t been writing as much or posting, and I haven’t had time to reply to comments like I usually would. Since my exams are science-related, I just can’t merge the two right now, so I’ve been focusing on that.
I won’t be able to reply to comments💔 until after my exams, but I should be done by the 27th, and then I can fully commit to posting again and enjoying poetry as usual.
For now, I just wanted to share this little bit as I step into this new chapter.🎉 I might also share a few drafts I’ve been working on.📝

Beautiful poetry as always. Happy birthday for tomorrow! And good luck on the exams (though by the time you read this, your exams will likely be over, so I should instead say: I hope they went well).
