Wires

For Nathanael

By Montgomery ReavesPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

my big brother

wrapped in wires

strapped beneath a blinding light

though I’m just a boy

I know that something isn’t right

*

I creep through the facility

a spider in the metal wings

people dressed in blinding white

passing whispers, shifting eyes

*

my big brother

fast asleep

hissing electricity

white coats gather

sparkling like static in the night

*

they cut him open

slowly

*

something isn’t right

*

and then the dream

dissolves…

the way they often do

in and out of wakefulness

in and out of truth

*

I try to fall asleep again

to see him one more time

*

I just want

to save

his life

*

I just

want

to

...

*
