Winter's Slumber

Peace and Longing

By Katrina ThornleyPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

We awaited eagerly

The innocence of first fallen snow,

The cool frost

That would sit upon sleeping earth,

The stiffened bark

Of slumbering oak-

We awaited eagerly

Our reminder

Of simple times within,

Fingers reaching inherently

Towards burning flames

And scorching torso

While mind’s eye dreamt

Of blooming fields

And blazing run,

A reminder that humanity

Is always leaping forward-

Even in peace.
