Nature’s Song

evening skies of periwinkle

a perfect backdrop for the snow

tender skin starting to prickle

as the north wind gently blows

*

silver moon shines like a nickel

frosted cornstalks, lined with crows

falling raindrops, become fickle

as wintertime prepares her show

*

brittle limbs now bare and naked

barren twigs are nature’s bones

falls masquerade has quickly faded

clouds resembling the stones

*

autumns graveyard, lightly frosted

with blue and dark gray undertones

another season is exhausted

water and sky are natures clones

*

the wind softly howls in hushed voices

as earth prepares to take her rest

the season dances and rejoices

protecting the heart inside her chest

*

glistening lanes and light, still waters

breathing in sighs of relief

Mother Nature is the author

and earth is covered in her peace

Such a soothing and vivid portrayal of winter’s quiet transformation. The imagery feels crisp and alive, perfectly capturing nature’s gentle descent into rest.
