Wings of Sorrow, tears of joy

From Across The Room

By Lesley WoodralPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

From across the room, her gaze touched his, stealing his breath away in a short sharp gasp

For long years past, he'd sought his match, but tasted only ash and the sting of rejection

Her lingering smile promised a secret unspoken, leaving a taste of things to come, making him sigh

Her gaze teased an end to loneliness and an end to sorrow, engulfed in loves black wings

From across the room, his heart skipped a beat as she crossed the floor and found his hands

Eyes locked, souls searching for a way to leave while hoping for a reason to stay, they moved close

Their meeting was fate, decided by a smile and the touch of their hands, both lost to the rhythm of their love

From across the room, she caught his heart and embraced his soul, her world lost to his lips and arms holding her tight

The night air sings, as they find their place, alone with the shadows and their final embrace

Death takes them both, swift and silent, on wings of night, with the lightest touch

From across the room, the angel sings, his scythe held tight as twin souls arise from the broken pair

Time stands still for lovers lost, while death holds court in the kingdom of the damned, leaving a shadow with a monster's heart
