Wings like Branches

Grounding and flying

By Tanya LeiPublished 2 months ago 1 min read

I was locked in a cage

Of my own creation

I took the key

And opened the gate

I stepped outside with cautious vigor

Breathing in

I looked around

The cliff was steep

I couldn't see the ground

But with one step

I was floating down

My back it ached

As I swirled around

I thought it was time

To surrender now

And with that came

The courage to slow down

My wings they grew

And up I flew

With that I knew

I was finally safe

To touch the earth

Feel into the dirt

Let my roots dig deeper

Become one with the soil

My branches shot up

Way into the sky

Not only was I grounded

But finally

I could fly

how to
