Cages
limiting us
to four walls
metal bars
restricting freedom
to imprisonment
because we are birds
without wings
unable to take flight
to take the freedom
that is rightfully ours
Stuck
that is what we are
Trapped
in our own loss
the loss of the things
we have forgotten
Wings
the dream to fly
the hope
for freedom
Free
more than just
a thought
but a reality
that is not yet ours
Without wings
we are birds
who cannot fly
unable to escape
four walls
of metal bars
we've dreamed
to tear apart
We've hoped
so many times
for the sweet taste
of the sky
the wide and endless
expanse of freedom
we crave
but that remains
an imagination
tucked away
in our heads
Without our wings
we are weak
or so we think
because what we think
is strong
is flight
We believe
that wings
are our answer
our freedom
Free
the hope
in our hearts
that is anything
but weak
because our hope
is stronger
than our state
than these four walls
and metal bars
Our cage
is shattered glass
when met
with our will
The sky is ours
The world
is everywhere
Our wings
are returned
with the wind
to pick them up
We fly
we soar through
uncharted territory
Freedom
We are birds
birds who cannot fly
until we're brave enough
to try
