Wings

Poetry

By Parker KorpiPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

There she was.

Sitting in a field of sunflowers.

I watched the flowers dance

with the wind as they hummed a tune.

She was in the center of all of them,

conducting them, teaching them.

Petals fell from her lashes, and her

lips dripped with honey.

Her voice was that of an angel who

had been forgotten and thrown into

the depths of a lost world.

There was pain in her voice, a pain

that could not be ignored.

A pain where beauty comes from.

She stitched her halo back together

because she knew that it was all she

had.

An angel who had been stripped of her

wings and blamed for her ever

growing heart.

She saw me.

The sunflowers stopped humming, the

wind had subsided and her voice grew

silent.

Eternity stood between us as we both

began to walk to each other.

Two hearts glowing so strongly that all of

the sunflowers began to rise creating

streams of pedals that twirled around us.

I kissed her and everything fell beneath us.

A loud sound emerged from behind her,

and everything became clear.

I stretched my hand out

offering her the universe.
