Wildfire in our Hearts
A nod to what might have been.

With you
I could have gone anywhere,
Weathered anything,
The Sun could not have burnt brighter than I.
.
By your side
My fears were less daunting,
My shame; you accepted,
Your response, draped in love
And your gentle touch became everything to me.
.
With you
I would have trekked paths less travelled-by,
Crossed molten pits a blazing,
While I held you by my side, we'd soar the earth.
.
Because Together
We held the world in our hands,
Cupped our hearts in our minds,
And merged souls like wildfire scoring a dead forest,
Its timbers scathing, skin scorched and peeling,
Lapped up, like the ground beneath my feet.
