Wild Woman

an ode to anxiety and all her colors

You’ve never met a girl like me

Whose moods can change the tide

Whose silver waves kiss shores by day

And rage coal-black at night

A girl whose warmth and laughter glows

Like copper in the sun

But just behind her rosy lips

There lies a vicious tongue

It tells her lies about herself

A bitter, anxious tale

Across her face her smile fades

Her honeyed skin turns pale

But tides they turn and so does she

With patience and with grace

Like green leaves and the morning dew

Her worry dissipates

Just like hills of wildflowers

With marsh and mud below

A wild woman needs them both

If she’s to ever grow
