Why Me?

A Forbidden Love Poem

By Shana MariePublished 4 years ago 1 min read

Friendship is what I wanted

More is what I got

I asked for something simple

And now I'm in a mess

Why Me?

We are so alike in every way

It's no wonder we drifted together

But you are taken and,

I'm afraid we've grown too close

Why Me?

Leave it to us to want

Something unattainable

Forbidden to be together

Hate to be apart

Why Me?

I count the moments to see you

And feel tortured when you are near

I didn't ask for these feelings

My heart betrayed me

Why Me?

Shouldn't yearn for you this much

But if we are wrong

Then what is right?

I search the skies for answers

Why Me?

heartbreak
