Twists in the Road
A Poem about Change
On the journey of our lives,
We often balk,
At a twist in the road,
Though why we know not.
~
Who says a twist is to be feared,
Or something from which to run?
~
Ingrained in us from the beginning,
Change seems the enemy,
An evil out to do us some harm,
But why does this seem?
~
Is change so bad,
Or could it perhaps be a chance?
~
A chance for change,
For choices,
A chance for courage,
And new courses.
~
Perhaps we may learn one day,
To love and trust our twists in the road.
~
My twists have led me all about,
Lost seems often my way.
But trust and faith keep me inspired,
To look for all the beauty in today.
~
Around each bend and twist,
Treasures surely await.
~
I've found in my journey,
That twists will come,
Though not in evil,
If we chose to succumb.
~
Letting go of control,
Finding peace in our soul.
~
My journey just begun
Yet begin again I shall,
With the resolve to yield not,
To my old forgotten qualm.
~
This journey is just too beautiful,
And time can seem too short.
