A Life-Changing Motivation Poem

WHY ME? - A Life-Changing Motivation Poem

i have a question

for you

do you play the victim when things are

not working well for you are you someone

who asks

why me when things are not going well

and are you also someone who forgets to

ask the same question during good times

well if that's the case author barbara

vance has a powerful reminder for you in

this beautiful

short poem

aptly titled why me

if you have to ask why me when you're

feeling really blue

when the world has turned against you

and you don't know what to do

when it pours colossal raindrops

and the roads a winding mess

and you're feeling more confused

than you ever could express

when the saturn sun won't shine

when the stars will not align

when you'd rather be

inside your bed the covers pulled above

your head

when life is something that you dread

and you have to ask why me

then

when the world seems right and true

when rain has left a gentle dew

when you feel happy

being you

please ask yourself

why me

then too please ask yourself

why me

then too

an excerpt from suzy bittner was afraid

of the drain by barbara vance at

suzybitner.com we're really thankful to

her for her permission to read this poem

friends it's often said that this is how

the story goes that the legendary

wimbledon player

arthur ashe

was dying of aids

which he got due to infected blood he

received during a heart surgery in 1983

he received millions of letters in the

mail

one of them asking the same question

why you arthur

haven't you asked guard why did he have

to select you for such a horrible

disease

have you never asked gord why me

to which arthur ashe replied

50 million children started playing

tennis

5 million learned to play the tennis

five hundred thousand learned

professional tennis

fifty thousand came to the circuit

five thousand reached grand slam

fifty reached wimbledon

four reached the semifinals

two reached the finals and when i was

holding the cup in my hand

i never asked god why me at that moment

and i was holding that coveted cup in my

hand i never asked god why me

and now that i'm in pain i'm suffering

and i'm dying

how can i ask god why me

at this point of time

psychologists have identified something

in human beings which is called the

negativity bias

due to which my friends this is what we

do we blow the negative events in our

life out of proportion

and then we make sweeping statements

about our life like life has always been

unfair to me

nothing has ever worked out for me

i have always been unhealthy et cetera

et cetera we set up these self-limiting

beliefs and we follow them and what i

want you to do as i close this video

is to sit in meditation

and challenge these self-limiting

beliefs

always unfair nothing has ever really

worked out challenge the self-limiting

belief dwell on what has worked well for

you the moments of joy and beauty

however short and let this new

perspective change your emotions

your feelings and your life

once again we're really thankful

sad poetry
