Why Can’t I Be Like You Are?
Bittersweet and incomplete

It’s early here in the morning,
I didn’t sleep, and morning came.
I am jogging around the back streets,
Trying to make sense of this game.
I hang on every word you say,
I long so much for your touch,
You look at me, but see straight through,
It hurts, it hurts me so much.
💗💗💗💗💔💔💔💔
You tell me you still love me,
So why don’t I believe what you say?
Maybe because all your actions,
Point in the opposite way.
Sometimes you're sweet and gentle,
Just like the way we were,
But then you change and hate me,
As if our love was a distant blur.
💗💗💗💗💔💔💔💔
I know one day, I will get over this,
And that day will be bittersweet,
I won't feel pain like I do now,
But my life will not be complete.
I wrestle losing a life of love,
Why can’t I be more like you?
You seem to have it under control,
Why can’t I be more like you?
💗💗💗💗💔💔💔💔
[Authors' note: There is nothing more wonderful than falling in love and nothing more heartbreaking than losing someone you love, especially when you have no control over it.
PS. I wish I could say that was me running, but sadly, I don't look like that (anymore). ]
Till next time,
Calvin

I like the sing song rising and falling rhythm in this Calvin. This pulls at the heartstrings. The bittersweet and wanting to be just like the other person, because they seem like they have it all under control. I love the hearts separating the lines. The full and the broken parts. It shows just how interacting with this person goes hot and cold. Fantastic poem ♥️🤗👌🏽👏🏽
Great poetry, Calvin!❤️
You’ve captured the push and pull of love and heartbreak so vividly.
Yes, people can fall out of love anytime. It's sad and scary at the same time. Loved your poem!
Very sad, but well expressed
