You could be selfish,
but I thought you’d overcome
You lacked will power
But I thought you were fighting
You were losing
But I thought you were working
Burnt out
But I thought you were resting
You were lost
But I thought you were searching
Hurt
But I thought you were healing
You were angry
But I thought you were forgiving
Acting stupid
But I thought you were learning
I never thought
Not one time
That all the things I saw of you
Were all you were
But now I know
That’s just who you were
I was waiting for you to transition
I was wrong
And I was waiting to be right
