Who were they?
Kaanton ka haar mila [ We got a garland of thorns instead ]

What people were they who got their true love?
When we desired petals, we got garlands of thorns
When we motioned towards the heights of merry
Why did we only get piles of sorrow?
What people were they who got their true love?
We giggled for a second and felt our luck bloom
We realized we weren't the ones deserving a chuckle
Our love, our life none was our pal...
What people were they who got their true love?
Now we don't desire something new
All our fantasies have come to an end
Demolished our senses; cut the throat of our love
'Cause we know the answer to our every wish
What people were they who got their true love?

Author's note:
There's a song in Hindi: "Jaane wo kese log thy jinke pyaar ko pyaar mila?". It won't escape my mind so I wrote a poem inspired by it.
Hope you like it :)

True love is just a myth. It doesn't exist. Loved your poem hehehehe
beautiful and attractive
Omg, this is heartbreak wrapped in poetry!🥺 That refrain hits hard, like... who are those lucky ones, right? Beautifully done and so relatable!✨ Honestly, this feels like something you'd hum on a rainy day, staring out the window, feeling all the feels. Love it!💖🤗
This is very relatable to me, and I wish I knew the answer. One thing I know, I won't try so hard to be what another person wants in the future. Anyone who doesn't take all of me, especially my voice, will have none of my gifts either.
This is so deep; it reflects sadness, regret, and loneliness. You've done an excellent job—what a wonderful question it is. I will listen to this song; thanks for sharing. Demolished our senses; cut the throat of our love 'Cause we know the answer to our every wish. "Wonderful✨😍
