Who is She?

A poem of rarity

Into the world she came.

Whole, pretty, and with a name.

Discoveries were made.

Ones that were unexplained.

Life was playing with her like a game.

Body parts were rearranged.

Time passed and things seemed sustained.

Soon complications unfortunately retained.

A hearing loss, four fingers and her bone marrow feigned.

A small frail bird closed off and caged.

At war against her own little frame.

She wanted someone to rightfully blame.

In the hospital for 188 days.

Her bone marrow was replaced.

Her identity changed.

Confusion inflamed.

She wanted to opt out of this unfair game.

But along the way she learned to stay.

The birdcage door opened and she flew away.

Her body no longer in dismay.

The world was finally a safe place to play.

With newfound confidence as big as a bear.

Life began to feel comfortably fair.

Now she could go anywhere.

The little bird learned it's a gift to be rare.
