Who Are You Trying To Please, It's Empathy, Right?!

You're not fooling your heart -

when you're appeasing the crowds.

The means that you're using,

your own empathy card.

*

On the outside -

it looks great -

So, you keep filling your plate.

With the things that they said, were too hard.

*

So, you push, and you squeeze -for as long as they need.

It's been your life's mission, I know, but -

Always setting your sights, on the best you can be -

As their savior, or next moving target.

*

But when all's said and done -

though you may claim that you've won.

While every door to escape's,

slamming shut!

*

There's not a thing wrong -in helping -

I understand, I'm a pleaser, but guess what?

They will never appreciate anything that you do -

till you let them fall down on their butts.

*

Pattern or exception, courtesy or now trapped -

appeasing is your life's work of art.

But before you commit and start fixing again -

Take a really good look at your heart.
