A snowflake melts, moist
in the empress' palm, I fall
to earth and bloom white,
my petals unfurl
in the mountain wind, carried
down to wither, blend
with the soil, only
to blaze aflame, parched after
a hundred summers -
hatched from the egg, forged
in my ovary, unborn
in my mother's womb.
