White Is Not Me

A poem about identity

By Dick PassmorePublished 5 years ago 1 min read

White Is Not

White is not an identifier.

White is not a culture.

I am white, but

White is not me.

White is a lower level of melanin.

White is not a nation.

White is not a goal.

I am white, but

White is not me.

White is a part of the Medicine Wheel.

White is not an ideal.

White is not right.

I am white, but

White is not me.

White is the lightest color and is achromatic.

White is not a heritage.

White is not a way.

I am white, but

White is not me.

White is the reflection of most wavelengths of light.

White is not more.

White is not less.

I am white, but

White is not me.

White is a canvas that still looks beautiful when colour is applied.
