White and White

Dreary Poetry

By Laura LannPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

Snow falls on my cheek,

Whispers to the meek

That she will claim them in her clutch

Freeze them solid with her touch.

In lands so vast and so lost

I wonder through the frost.

White swirls around me in my hair

White tugs my feet into an icy lair.

And the rivers have all frozen

Along this path I have chosen.

The ocean runs to hide

Pulls out ice with its tide,

But forever it cannot roam,

It will bring back the icy loam

And freeze along the muddy bank

As in it Winter's teeth are sank.

She takes all that walks beneath the sky

And grounds the birds that would fly.

The Winter stalks and lurks day through night

Watching for Spring to enter her sight.

And I fear he will take too long

That I will fall to Winter's song.
