Whispers of you

True friendship

By Peace OputaPublished 9 months ago 1 min read

You are the quiet hum of the ocean at dawn,
Steady, endless, pulling me back when I drift too far,
The wind that lifts me when my wings forget how to fly,
The whisper of rain after too many days of dryness.

Through storms that swallowed my light,
You stood, unshaken, like an ancient tree,
Roots deep in kindness, branches wide with grace.
Reminding me;
I am not just my brokenness,
I am more than the battles I lost.

When my world shattered into sharp edges,
You held out your hands, never afraid of the pieces,
You never feared the wreckage of me,
Never asked me to be whole before I was ready.

You are the warmth of the sun on my coldest days,
The gentle Moonlight when my mind will not rest.
When the world was loud with doubt,
You were the hush of the earth after a storm.

You're my greatest Confident,
You know all of me and more,
Yet I never feel judged with you,
You see me, before I see myself,
My hypeman, my superhero,
Saving me always, without a cape.

If love had a scent, it would be Petrichor;
The earth breathing after the rain,
Just like I have learned to breathe again,
Wrapped in the safety of your presence.

I fight you, like the raging storm at sea,
I despise you, like I despise the fire ants,
I push you away, like waves against the shore,
But you never leave,
like roots, Clinging deep beneath the earth,
You linger like smoke in the lungs of memory

So here’s my whisper to you, best friend,
My safe place, my unwavering tide,
Thank you for loving me,
When I hated myself,

Thank you for holding me,
When I let myself go.
Thank you for being my light house,
Thank you for being the kind of miracle,
That doesn’t ask to be named.Start writing...
