Whispers of The Wood
Fond memories of my grandparents’ cabin
By Curtis HoogstratenPublished 5 years ago • 1 min read

To hear, in hush, the summer repertoire.
Of all subtle features of a tree,
Breaking heart, we have wandered far.
No time to eclipse your memory.
•
Your shrouded kin held me within your boughs.
When I was yet young and quite unaware.
With all the mist of dreams and stars, endow.
The pleasant feeling of nature’s care.
•
All the minutes dribble lost astray.
Return now summoned- fairy tune,
You called me back a fine display.
To greet the forest with all grandeur due.
•
In secrets and leaves that whispers find,
Still cast asunder sleeping hearts entwined.

I ended up gaining the confidence to write poetry after a best man speech. The reactions to that speech were far more positive that I would have ever imagined.
Just starting small!
