Whispers of the Rain
An Ode to Longing and Lost Love

There was a time you lived in my heart
Two strangers, how could they ever part?
You soaked in the rain, I flowed with the waves
By the shore, like the ocean's slaves.
With hope, you sat and waited there,
Bearing the hurt of the ones you cared.
The world wants us to stray, to mislead,
As rain and fragrance our lives feed.
We’ve written philosophies on life’s pages,
Yet lost ourselves through endless stages.
Unread, misunderstood, and forgotten,
Barefoot, wandering, bruised and begotten.
Memories pull, they hold us back,
Steps falter on the same old track.
Simplicity turns to a waiting game,
I stand here still, but you never came.
Again, you bring poetry and doubts,
Your memory bites, and I cannot shout.
You were once my will, now you’re my prayer,
Oh God, is this the pain I’m meant to bear?
I wake through the night; dawn is near,
Storms rage, yet skies grow clear.
You, the cure for every pain,
I stand in the sun, feel you like rain.
Seasons change like faces do,
Walls hold your traces too.
We meet in dreams and tangled thoughts,
Lost in questions life has brought.
Will you recognize me or walk away,
How can we trust people today?
You’re my dream, my desire true,
My feeling deep, you’re rain, I’m dew.
We’ll meet again, someday, somewhere,
You are my hope, you’re all I bear.
Pages open, revealing scars,
For all the world, like scattered stars.
