Whispers of Summer poem

poem

By ijaz ahmadPublished 8 months ago 1 min read

The sun spills gold on waking skies,

A flame that dances, bold and wide,

The air is thick with honeyed breeze,

And whispers hum through swaying trees.

The grass grows wild, a tangled green,

Where barefoot dreams walk in between,

And every leaf and petal glows

With stories only summer knows.

Children’s laughter skips like stones,

Over lakes and through their tones,

While fireflies in twilight gleam,

Like sparks escaped from some bright dream.

The days stretch long, then longer still,

The dusk arrives with soft goodwill,

And stars appear in velvet crowds

To gather where the heat allows.

But summer never stays for long,

It fades like echo after song,

Yet in its warmth we always find

A memory stitched in heart and mind.

So hold it close, this fleeting fire,

This season dressed in gold and choir,

For though it goes, it leaves behind

A sunlit corner in the mind.
