Whispers of Summer
a moment of peace and introspection, to pause and reflect.

On a blanket of sunlit grass,
I lay my thoughts down slow and fast,
In the warmth of the day, I bask,
Yet, there’s a longing I dare not ask.
The gentle breeze, it plays with time,
Each blade of grass, a tender rhyme,
In the distance, memories chime,
Of moments past, now left behind.
A straw hat rests beside my head,
With wildflowers, in woven thread,
They speak of dreams, both lived and fled,
Of paths I chose, of words unsaid.
Yet here, in this quiet, golden field,
I find a peace, a gentle yield,
To what is now, to what’s revealed,
A heart content, though never sealed.
For in the warmth, I softly yearn,
For places I’ll not yet return,
To days of light, and lessons learned,
Where love and loss both brightly burn.
But now, I smile, I sigh, I stay,
In the gentle hold of this day,
For here, the longing fades away,
And I am home, in summer’s sway.
