While I Lay Alone

In the process of healing

While I lay alone, in silence with my own thoughts

I day dream of a life that isn't mine,

Where I succeed at everything,

Where I have a cause...

-

While I lay alone, stuck with an empty heart

I wish for meaningful connection,

Where I find myself laughing,

Where I feel safe to accept genuine affection.

-

While I lay alone, searching in the pits of my mind

I beg for clarity from unknown force,

Where I allow myself to acknowledge my mistakes,

Where I see my ship and its course.

-

While I lay alone, in silence, with hopeful thoughts

I ask for no more rain from the dark cloud above me,

It followed me for far too long,

It placed me in a chest; with no escape, without a spare key...

I am ready to shine - I am ready to be free.
