Where You Been Hiding?

Free Verse

This is more than a sonnet—

it's an open letter to my exes.

I hope you’re blessed.

I hope you’re well.

I pray you overcame your demons.

I tried to heal you—

to no avail.

So I prayed you'd overcome your demons.

Oh, sweet darling,

I know you never saw it coming—

the day I walked away without a trace,

blocked your number,

deleted your pictures,

erased every message,

told my family it's over.

You're not welcome through the door to my heart again.

No, I’m not lettin’ you mess with my heart again.

No.

I’m not lettin’ you hold my heart again.

No.

Now—

honorable mention, 3D.

You were the best.

I learned so many lessons.

Because of you,

I was blessed

to see the final test—

to know I only accept the very best.

This is more than a sonnet—

it’s an open letter to my exes.

Only God knows.

Only my Jesus knows.

Only the Spirit knows.

Yes, only Heaven knows what it took to close the door to my heart.

Had to love myself.

Then love like Christ—

Yeah, just dust off my feet and head to the next town.

Can I be honest for a moment—

share a Now Faith prayer?

Lord, I pray

dey le go of me

like I le go of dem.

Never cause no harm.

Never blow up the spot.

Never catch me on a blog or sittin’ on somebody couch speakin’ on dem.

And oh Lord God—

please don’t le me

see none of dem in the streetz.

But peace be still if I do—

just le me walk right by,

not even a hi.

Real talk,

that’s all I wanna do.

Sorry, but no—

I ain’t got no more words for you.

And umm yeah—

excuse the CC - yeah, pardon.

Pardon my boundaries.

I’m just keepin’ it real.

I’m busy.

So excuse me in advance

if you see me walk right by—

not even a hi for the old times,

just a ballad in my step:

I hope you’re well.

I hope you’re blessed.

Never cause you harm.

Blocked your number.

Deleted your pictures.

Erased your messages.

Told my family—it’s over.
