Doing chores – my goal today – I'll clean this mess without delay.
I pick up clothes and also shoes…but this one’s torn, I need some glue…
Sorting through my office junk, I find a tube of dried up gunk.
Time to run and get some more, I’ll need a list for at the store.
Rifling through my desk and purse, no pen but mess gets even worse.
An hour more to organize…This button here is just the size!
Coat out of the closet now….but sewing, I do not know how.
Teacher-google has some facts, but videos of cats distract.
I click a link, what hell is this? Blue screen of death I can’t dismiss.
Overt panic leads to fear. To calm it I will need a beer.
Nothing done, a wasted day. Oh well, I’m shluurrring anyway.

Laura Nelson’s nerves were beginning to fray. She’d had to re-arrange her whole morning when school was dismissed early because of snow, and driving in it now was making her more nervous by the minute. With her left hand on the steering wheel, her right hand went to the hair behind her ear and she began twirling a long, blonde section around her index finger. She had tried repeatedly over the years to break the habit, but when she was anxious or upset – like now – the action was both unconscious and automatic.

Day 4 of Quitting
If this is how sobriety feels, maybe it’s better to go through life a little buzzed… this, along with other hits like, I want to kill myself, I wish I was dead, and I’m going to throw myself off a bridge have been the only thoughts on rotation these past few days. I promise myself that if, in a month, I still feel like this (‘this’ meaning despondent, full of rage, and simultaneously numb) I can go back to smoking. Until mid-February though? Nicotine is off the table.
