Where Nothing Should Bloom
A poem about life finding a way

A single green breath
pushes through salted silence—
sand-swept, sun-beaten,
where no garden has ever been
and no gardener waits.
No map said:
“life grows here,”
but still—it rose.
Not with force,
but with fierce grace.
Golden petals
laugh in the face of reason,
defying drought,
shrugging off wind,
singing back to the sea.
She thought of me—
said I’d be inspired by the way
this bloom broke through the impossible.
We don’t speak often,
but in this—she saw me.
Maybe she’s right.
Maybe even here,
where no one thought to look,
life finds a way.

Author's Note
This poem was inspired by a photo my mother-in-law sent me—a single flower growing against all odds in the beach sand. It reminded me that life doesn’t wait for perfect conditions. Sometimes, it blooms exactly where it's least expected.
