Where Love Went to Die

Some Losses don't Shatter You, they Hollow You Out

By PSYGENIUSPublished 11 months ago 1 min read
I Kept Waiting for You

1.

You didn't leave all at once.

You faded-

slowly, painfully,

like a song losing its last note.

2.

I used to feel you in the space

between my fingers,

in the way my name sounded

softer in your mouth.

But then, your hands grew distant,

your voice turned into an echo of

someone I used to know.

3.

I kept waiting for you to come

back,

for your love to find its way home.

But love, real love,

doesn't need directions.

4.

Now I sit with the ghost of us,

tracing your absence in the sheets.

And the worst part?

You're still here.

just not with me.

Wow, this hits deep! You really nailed that feeling of love fading slowly but still lingering. The way you described the absence and the ghost of what was is so relatable. Beautifully done!
