WHEN TO CLOSE THE DOOR
And open another
^^^^^^^^^^^^^
When you said good-bye,
You tore my world apart.
How could I go on
With such a broken heart?
<><><>
You said there was someone new
Who treated you like a king;
I guess there’s not much value
In a golden wedding ring
<><><>
You slipped it off so easily,
Oh, so many times.
But the last time was forever.
You’re no longer mine.
<><><>
I never thought you’d ever lie
When you took me as your wife.
I believed the things you told me,
When you said I’d share your life.
<><><>
I thought then, there was nothing left
Since you tore my world in two.
The tears I cried each lonely night
Were all because of you.
<><><>
But time has come, I know it dear,
As the last teardrops filled my eyes,
To close the door on memories
And say my last good-byes.
<><><>
Don’t waste a moment of your time;
I’ll be fine, just wait and see.
For now and in my future
I’ll stay true to ME!
<><><>
No longer will you keep me down,
Or dampen my ambition.
I will stand up tall and proud
With no more trepidation.
<><><>
As I said, and I meant it well,
I’ll stay true to me!
As of now, and it’s been way too long –
I am finally free!

A great read and wonderfully expressed.
I am finally free. That means a lot.
Wow. Great poem describing a break up that goes OK for the woman.❣️
These would and will be get divorce vows if there was such a thing. Good work and be true to yourself.
