When Thoughts Turn Heavy

Today felt weighty,

Thick in my head,

Pulling my footsteps,

Hard as I tread.

My mind kept drifting,

Lost in the haze,

Counting the shadows,

Through the long days.

My chest felt burdened,

Tight in its space,

Struggling for calmness,

Wanting some grace.

Each breath grew shallow,

Hard to control,

Twisting my focus,

Out of its role.

I told myself gently,

Hold for a while,

Let every heartbeat,

Move through the trial.

I slowed my pacing,

Tried to stay near,

Letting the moment,

Quiet the fear.

The weight stayed heavy,

Still I held on,

Knowing these feelings,

Do not stay long.

Night brought a stillness,

Soft to the bone,

Helping my spirit,

Feel less alone.
