When The Lights Go Down
a poem about a home away from home
By Kyle AndersonPublished 4 years ago • 1 min read

when the lights go down.
When the party is over
I’m left with a void
The audience has gone
The queen has been washed off
I sit in my living room
Dreaming of being back on stage
Living for the applause
Being someone else for a night
The smiles fade
The buzz wears off
I’m back down to square one
Waiting for the next spotlight
When the lights go down
I know I’ll be the last one standing
Pouring myself into the art
Building my own legacy
