When Rabbits Run
Instinctual
Hearts pound at the rising sun
a liken to a loaded gun
Stirring flight of those more cunning
like when the rabbits run
Gathering courage from your mistakes
the goal to flourish is at stake
Repairing the damage that can't be undone
like when the rabbits run
Sensitive to the changing winds
mending the broken to start again
Fractured behavior scares everyone
like when the rabbits run
Fear in your mouth, wolf at the door
becoming something like never before
Huddled in masses, just to remain warm
facing the storm, to find you're standing alone
You'll know who you are when the lesson is done
writing the words of your warrior song
you'll find life was preparing, through every mistake
and like the rabbit, you made your escape

Loved it, Kelli. I especially liked the repeating line "like when the rabbits run," it really keeps it focused.
Lovely poem and so rabbity.🐰
Love the title, very catchy. The poem cemented the title, this is wonderfully written with a sense of motion and tension.
