When Our Stars Fell From The Sky

And Found A Way To Survive

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished about a year ago 1 min read

The waves rush in a roar

crashing like the slam of the door

Leaving my heart scattered all over

like the sands on the shore

The stars that fell from our sky

now swim in the tides that pass by

As starfish with something to hide

gathered to witness our love as it dies

The sun watches in horror

as the tides start to turn

The rain clouds all pour

and the sea starts to churn

The loss of forever

beginning to burn

As the weather surrenders

knowing we've lost what we learned

Once bright in the sky

shining our love in the night

Now caught up in the tide

as new stars in rewrite

In a world of the sea, there exists power and promise in this poem. The words that personify the sun particularly glow. The waters rushing and the starfish paint a portrait of a day full of splendor. I will share. S.S.

This is a thought provoking poem of how one sees love and maybe respect.
