When Nature Nurtures

And What We Learn

When you witness nature withholding her fury,

and acknowledge the power she wields.

It’s both a beautiful and wicked sight,

when you experience firsthand what she feels.

*

Electricity vibrates your senses,

the heat from the surge in the air.

She controls every move with precision,

with so much more power to spare.

*

We long to obtain the force of her nature,

contain her power to use as our own.

So, we harness and reign just a portion,

for our tv's, appliances, and phones.

*

We struggle to become one with nature,

on our terms, controlling just how.

Forgetting that she can take what she wants,

she doesn't need us at all, anyhow.

I need to be completely expunged of emotion -

absorb the full beauty of stars.

Exposing the hurt -that my heart holds,

cleansing and healing each scar.

*

To talk freely with the constellations,

learn the secrets of the universe - firsthand.

Lay silently still, beside the ocean,

enveloped completely in sand.

For I too am a force made of nature,

made with a clear purpose in mind.

I may not yet - have all the answers,

but she and I, are completely aligned.

Excellent! We take nature for granted so much, yet we need to remember we can't separate ourselves from it.

  • What I like about this one is how you are also a force made of nature. Your poem gives the implication that it is more than just the trees, plants, oceans, and stars that are nature. But also living breathing organisms such as human beings. Very well done. I like this one
