When I'm Kissing You

A poem by Rowan

By Rowan RileyPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

Rain falls

A storm swirls around us

I’m caught in the web

Tangled up in you

~

If you knew how serene you looked

You’d never know the chill of tragedy

You’d never recover your ego

Flown off like a child’s balloon

~

Pressed into a mattress

Between the pages of a book

Tender like a lover

Innocent because we’re both just kids

~

I hold you in the comfort of closed doors

Four walls can’t hold it all in

In the moment, it could mean anything

And to me it meant everything

~

Now you’re faded into memory

Immortalized with gold tinged time

Did I awaken in you…

...the very thing you awakened in me?
