For the last 30 minutes,
I’ve been putting up,
with the disturbing noise
of the yard-cleaning crew.
As I try to study,
my focus sways,
and stress levels rise.
Then my daughter runs to me
to show her craft,
multiple times.
Son starts scratching his legs,
crying and nagging.
His iPad noise blaring.
My spouse is shouting at him,
as he works from home.
It’s pure pandemonium,
and I hated being with humans,
in that moment of chaos,
who were invading,
my need for solitude.
But then,
finches started singing,
soothing songs, in the yard.
My frustration plunged.
and pain began to heal.
When humans play foul,
nature puts balm on the soul.
Note: When humans disturb, run to nature. Yes, sometimes, there are pruning sounds, mowing, pesticide spraying, mulch making noises. So, even nature isn’t always peaceful.
Turn to it and feel better.
