Occupational Hazards

Your onus to keep yourself healthy

On this Monday morning,

I sit at my study nook,

trying to read and write,

and have a productive session.

But a crew is working,

in the neighbor’s yard,

The motorized devices

are making such jarring sounds,

it feels like hell.

Through the window,

I see the man—

without ear protection—

carrying on with their jobs.

I will not be surprised

if they complain of illnesses,

of body and mind.

People need awareness

of occupational hazards,

and need of safety gears.

On a scorching summer noon,

I saw the above man,

overweight and sitting,

by the street,

flashing liquor shop placard.

Imagine the stressors on him,

the shearing reflected sun,

the dust, and the noise,

this job is anything but ikigai.

Why wouldn’t his body,

be stressed and sick?

Why wouldn’t the

flab pile up?

And for all that damages,

he’ll receive minimum wages!

Life is a challenge,

and we need knowledge

to not ruin it for few bucks.

Note: Dear readers, it’s unfortunate that every job which gives us money to pay bills, often makes us sick.

To keep yourself safe. Awareness is essential.
