When Heart and Mind Disagree

An octet love poem

His heart said yes

But his mind said no

Her heart said no

and her mind also

Thrown together

By fate alone

A love that never

Could have grown.

❤️❤️💔💔❤️❤️

He dreamed about her every night

His feelings he wore on his sleeve

She kept her feelings locked up tight

And gave him little for him to believe

Day after day, he tried in vain

Day after day, she had nothing to say

His mind said time and time again

Let your heart throw this away.

❤️❤️💔💔❤️❤️

As time went on,

His mind won out

His heart was broken

Without a doubt

She was blind

She didn’t try to see

The pain of what he felt

When his heart and mind disagree.

❤️❤️💔💔❤️❤️

Till next time,

Calvin

The tension between heart and mind is universal and you capture it so simply yet powerfully every line resonates with that quiet heartbreak.

  • Never regret loving! Some people never know what love is! This is a great love octet!💖🫂💖

So beautiful and I love the writing but also so so sad.

  • Painful beauty wonderfully expressed

  • The disagreement between the heart and the mind is always a big deal. The mind is always right. Personally, if I could live again, I would never listen to my heart, and trust more my mind which always proved to be right. 😁 You always write beautiful and thought provoking poems.

Beautifully painful. I felt every little disappointment and hope.
