What Would You Do With $280,000?

Antoni De’Leon’s First Challenge, which sadly does not have a $280,000 prize fund 😅

it is not for me to judge this buy

or the large sum of money paid

but it's little hard for me not to cry

when I think of the life it could have gave

.

i’d have bought myself a campervan

and a small plot of land

so i’d had a place to lay my head

safely off the sand

.

i’d grow myself an orchard

plant all the trees i could

circling a great black alder

to support their common good

.

i would have a place to pour my love

instead of wasting it on demons

i would have a place to call my own

instead of being left needing

.

and in the summertime

i would be widely sharing

all the fruits and nuts

god’s trees would be bearing

.

people would sing together

they would laugh and rejoice

high as the kites

on fructose and life

.

and i would be smiling

from deep in my heart

because finally, finally,

my struggle became art

.

I was immediately lured to this challenge by the title.

It’s a question I love to spend my days dreaming up answers to…. with the sum growing larger and larger as my dreams grow in size.

With £4 million, 600 acres and decades of work and time - I have already designed and built my dream home and created a new National Park, to be protected forevermore and to restore the health capital of nature (which includes human beings!).

Cutting the sum down to $280,000?

It’s the same dream, just on a smaller scale!

Thanks for the prompt Antoni (which I found via Tiffany Gordon’s poem).

A fabulous entry. Thoughtful and inspiring. The line, “struggle becoming art” is one I think we all cling to. It’s raw and familiar. Good luck in this challenge
