What This Body Remembers

Today.

By A Lady with a PenPublished 4 months ago 1 min read

Breath cuts in my throat

Heartbeat hammering my ribs

Muscles clench and ache

Eyelids heavy, vision dim

Knees curl tight around my frame

Today I had a panic attack. The air felt raw against my skin. Unable to catch my breath I began to sink into fear. My daughter had an early dismissal. I was terrified that I would forget her and my body responded. I took a lorazapam and it tasted of failure. A quick plunge into cold water and my daughters’ sweet kisses. I am okay.
