What Is Your Best?

Welcome visitor, to our little slice of heaven

Where we enjoy all to us she’s given

Flora and fauna all at our behest

We utilise them to their utmost, we’re truly blessed.

What is the best thing about us you ask?

Well, we’re resilient creatures

But we do have some contradictory features

Like we’re happy when we stack up cash

But sad when in the process forests are slashed

How we say the earth is important to us!

But when it comes to saving it, we talk and fuss

Never truly doing what’s needed

To really improve and succeed it

From previous generations that broke and plundered

Resources, and we’re now dealing with the blunders

I can’t exactly blame them, that’s just progress

They couldn’t have known fully the potential regress

Maybe we can blame greed and insanity

Or the overall ignorance of humanity

But you can’t underestimate a comfortable life

To reach it, we’re willing to pay whatever price

From hunting and gathering

To sitting in cool rooms and chattering

Comfort is the main driver of progress

But…

Before you get corrupted

Emotionally disrupted and erupted

I suggest you stay calm and collected

Because now we’re seeing the fruits of our labour

And it looks like we’re no longer so eager

To destroy our one home

Or its wonderful biomes

We’re trying to fix it all now

We’re truly trying somehow

So don’t be dejected just yet

I’m sure you’re feeling upset

But just look at what we humans did!

We almost destroyed the planet

But we really didn’t plan it

Now we’re recreating, from scratch it feels

But I’m sure we’ll succeed, with the right ideals

Innovation and corruption

Humans can look crazy to you outsiders

But just some patience it requires

To understand our most powerful trait
