What is Fair?
Can I cook with it,
producing a life’s dinner to satisfy
What is Fair?
Can I sew with it
creating a fashion
to clothe the multitudes
What is Fair?
Can I draft it up
editing along the way
to correct its errors
What is Fair?
Can I write about it
or will it warn me to
surrender my pen
What is Fair?
Will it fairly allow life to
hand out justice
What is Fair?
will it court the impartial
to yard in to
predisposition bias
What is Fair?
Will it take my hand
in a dance to
equality
What is Fair?
Can it resurrect buried
hopes
To inflict new anticipations
What is Fair?
Will it sanction the sun
to rise from the rains
of flood
What is Fair?
Will it approve the rains
to water down
on grounds of drought
What is Fair
Will it endorse the betrayed
to avenge back
On its prey
What is Fair?
Will it cover the lies
that truth did not have the
will to uncover
Fair, I ask of you….
Offer reasonable
Present justice
Attend to open-mindedness
Grace rational
Refine non-discriminatory
Alter dispassionately
Dress honest
Devour decent
Produce patience
Honour love
Forgive injustice
Embrace hope
Deny betrayal
Flavour faithfulness
Induce kindness
Fair, what is Fair?
It rides on our own backs
Waiting to be let down…
Fair, will you kneel for it
To stand?
