What I Wouldn't Do

For the Time Being, Anyway

Though perhaps not of consequence,

I feel it behooves and makes sense

For me to notify, herein,

Those who'll read my words here and take in

~

What, and why, I choose not to do

In sharing this platform with you.

My hope is that you'll comprehend,

Regard me as a worthy friend,

~

And understand my hesitance

Doesn't represent any stance

Against you or what you will write

Nor would I think to intend slight.

~

It isn't likely you will see

Challenges posted here by me.

Not because I would condemn such,

The fact is that I very much

~

Admire the effort and the time

You will expend, to read each rhyme

Or story and then, make the choice

To reward your chosen authors' voice.

~

The hard truth is, I won't request

Your stories, penned at my behest

For judgment, with or sans reward.

The latter, I can ill afford,

~

And virtue of a call by me

Bears little weight, from what I see,

When surrounded by such talent,

Though it might be seen as gallant.

~

By the same token, you'll not find

Any creations of my mind

Designated as “Exclusive”.

My works here remain inclusive.

~

Understand – I will not judge you,

If that's something you choose to do,

But, I'd rather not be billing

Any reader that is willing.

~

There you have it, peers and betters,

And my “aiders and abettors”,

Public notice, duly given.

Thanks, and carry on with livin'!

I love how you turned your experience on Vocal into a poem. This was a delight to read.
