What Echoes Never Let Us Leave
The Love time couldn’t erase

The memory of you returns though the years have passed away,
my heart still calls out your name.
Some shadows hold on to the last bit of light.
I tell myself I’m healed, that morning will drive away the gray.
But every soft wind brings it all back again.
Even after all this time, I remember you.
I walk through crowded streets, but still feel the silence.
Your absence is there, even in the warmth of every light.
Some shadows hold on to light that soon fades.
I try to find happiness now, but night always follows day,
and every story seems to end where it started.
Even after all these years, I still remember you.
I wish time would help me think of something else,
but longing always brings me back to you.
Some shadows hold on to light that soon fades.
If tomorrow asks me to pay the price I choose,
I’ll tell the truth, without blaming anyone:
even after all these years, I still remember you,
cling to the light that cannot stay.

I love this! Here’s one of mine in the same vein: https://shopping-feedback.today/poets/distraction-no4rr0luh%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cstyle data-emotion-css="w4qknv-Replies">.css-w4qknv-Replies{display:grid;gap:1.5rem;}
Your poem captures that quiet ache of remembrance so perfectly. It’s gentle, sad, and full of love. Just beautiful.
