What Does Silence Sound Like?
An Acrostic Poem
Simply to have never heard, an
Instrumental masterpiece with orchestral strings as they sing their arias high, not even the
Laughing of a child or crying of a babe, the barking of a dog or the purring of a cat, never
Entertained by a lively beat of a rhythmic dance or able to clap in time with it, to
Not even know the sound of your own voice, the noise of your name as it is called out, or a lover's whisper as it
Caresses your ear; I watch as she signs to me, speaking the only way she can, my
Eyes watch her hands move, but my mind wonders
