how can I give away one sunset
How can I help you understand the meaning behind the deep blue dawn
Why can’t I give you the stars, the light that pierces the earth
Why can’t I give you the atoms that make up a sweet song
How can you give away the energy of the words, I’m sorry
Why isn’t it more important than gold or money, or oil
How can I give away the feeling of sorrow
To someone who allows the pain to develop, devastate, as something growing in irradiated soil
Or is this just a matter of poetic subjectivity
With no substance that we can hold
With no regard to the truth or facts or any kind of moral code
That is the only truth that holds our humanity together
As I unfold my thoughts into abstract patterns, I feel I will become obsolete
The moment that light comes from the heavens, the fear of death becomes so sweet
How can I give you the strength of my soul that creates a true peace
How can I give you one single sunset
A summer day, what does that even mean?

This beautiful reflective poem made me reflect on the state of society - thought provoking indeed! Well done Melissa!
Wow we as poets do have an hard job to make people feel our words deeply through our own feelings. But sometimes it just flows out of us like it did here. This was so beautifully written and made me feel deeply.
Oh wow, this was so poignant and profound. It blew my mind!
I don't believe you can, Melissa. I don't believe anyone can. But I feel ya.
So whimsically melodic Melissa. Beautifully written.
Well-wrought! I love this one! The astronomers say that the light far outshines the star, and I often think that it must be the same for we poets. This poem is an excellent example, for it will illuminate my heart long after I depart!
This was brilliant, Melissa!! Such gorgeous language!
